INPLP History

Following the advancement of European data protection legislation with the entry into force of the GDPR, businesses, regulators, individuals, and advisors have entered a new era of handling data flows and data protection.

2015: In consideration of these trends, EuroCloud Austria established a network of independent lawyers and IT specialists with the aim of analysing and guiding the practical impact of this evolution of European practice in applying the various regulations pertaining to data, and especially to personal data. In its beginnings, the project was exclusively an activity in the DACH region comprising Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In 2017, organisation of the project—which called itself CPC—was transferred to EuroCloud Europe (Luxembourg), and it subsequently continued to grow and become more international. By now, representatives in more than 30 countries are involved in the project.

In 2020, the project was renamed to INPLP (International Network of Privacy Law Professionals) and its organisation transferred to Sourcing International (Vienna). This also marked the start of the GDPR FINES DATABASE project, and the network continued to develop into an international association of privacy experts.

Over the past years, INPLP has compiled and released more than 300 short treatises dedicated to improving understanding of legal and practical aspects of data, technology, and the relation between them. This material has attracted several hundred thousand readers from all over the world.
