Wendy Wagner is the leader of Gowling WLG’s Privacy & Data Protection Group in Canada.

Based in Ottawa, Wendy advises organizations on privacy compliance and data protection issues, including compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), privacy laws applicable to the private sector, and laws governing the protection of health information. She routinely assists Chief Privacy Officers in conducting privacy impact assessments, drafting privacy compliance programs and policies, and drafting contractual provisions to protect employee and customer data.

Wendy also advises on cross-border data transfers and successor obligations, and assists companies with reporting and managing data breach incidents. She regularly advises on compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and has extensive expertise in requests under Canada's Access to Information Act and provincial freedom of information legislation.

Over the course of her career, Wendy has been recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Global, The Legal 500 and Lexpert.

INPLP provides targeted and concise guidance, multi-jurisdictional views and practical information to address the ever-increasing and intensifying field of data protection challenges.
