Our experience has seen the us provide legal advisory services in respect of non-litigious matters and client representation services as partners in the Firm have been occasioned to act as Arbitrators and Mediators by both parties and Courts. In some instances, members of the Firm have also acted as Expert witnesses as to Nigerian law in International Arbitrations.
The firm has a dedicated company secretarial subsidiary Alliance Corporate Secretaries Limited (“ACSL”), which provides company secretarial and nominee services ensuring that all its clients are aware of and comply with their respective reporting and compliance obligations under Nigerian law.
Uche Obi SAN
Uche a Senior Advocate of Nigeria is one of the Founding Partners of Alliance Law Firm and is the Managing Partner of the firm. His multidisciplinary skills set, wide-ranging experience and insight are constantly brought to bear in the resolution of clients’ issues. Uche is a highly ranked transaction solicitor and Litigator. Clients of the firm and peers alike hold him in high esteem. He is a notable contributor to the IMF/World Bank Doing Business Guide publications, and the author of “Class Actions in Nigeria” – a pioneer book on the subject in Nigeria.
He has advised on a wide range of matters in Energy, Power, Capital Markets, Banking and Finance.
In 2013 Uche was elected Chairman of the Capital Market Solicitors Association (“CMSA”) and was a member of the ministerial committee that recommended the implemented 26 billion Naira (US$170 million USD) forbearance of debts granted to stockbrokers by the Federal Government of Nigeria as announced by the then Minister of Finance/CME. Further he was also a member of the Capital Market Master Plan Committee set up by the Securities and Exchange Commission, and served as a council member of the Nigeria Bar Association -Section on Business Law. Uche was also a member of the National Technical Committee for the Implementation of E-Dividend in Nigeria. He was the pioneer CMSA coordinator of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Emerging Capital Market Project comprising Lawyers of the UK Law Society of England and Wales and Nigerian Lawyers.
Uche has been listed amongst the top most integrity-driven professionals in Nigeria by major newspapers including The Guardian and Thisday, and has contributed over 40 published articles in the areas of capital market, business and investment laws in the Business Day Law Specialist Section. He has received several local and international awards.
